Thanks folks, yeah it shows that i'm a happy pup huh? It's also gonna help cut my molds and forms better, the 2 bandaws i had here had no instruction books with 'em. Now, Jean-louis will be able to get his 1940's 14" delta back and i'll be able to fix my old 9" for cutting aluminum!

Al, I sure will take all the precations to stay safe, thanks and Mattia, have fun setting up shop at your folks, with the talent you have, you deserve a shop friend!

A few words for Shane, Doug and Bob, please guys don't worry for me being competition to you guys, i sure will do business with you folks, this toy is somethin' i long wanted especially since i started in lutherie last year, made all sense to go for one that could cut big. I sure will rely on you guys for beautiful tonewoods that i can't get around here! Thanks

Serge

Serge,

I have the exact same saw--you're gonna love it. It has made building so much more enjoyable. I've never tried to resaw with it, let me know how it comes out. What's the riser block you mentioned? I'm not sure what that is.

John

Serge,

Forget about cutting up the dining room table--you can MAKE a dining room table with that saw...a guitar-shaped table, for dining in style!!! Big fun!

Serge...new tools are great aren't they. Now when you start resawing, your next investment will be a good shop vac to hook to it.

Serge:
The first project needs to be a resaw guide ( can't really call it a fence). I made a triangle out of 3/4" mdf then rounded the edge. The adjecent (bottom) edge is screwed and glued to a rectangle base that can be clamped to the table.
I then true up the guide by tilting the table untill the distance between the guide and the blade is the same top and bottom. Next I layout and draw a line down the top edge of the board that I will saw to. Don't expect the blade to cut at straight, it will angle to the side just a bit. The rounded face of your guide will allow you to adjust your board to match the blade drift. After cutting a few peices of scrap you will get the feel of it, and you'll be off and running.

Have fun     Al

Thanks guys! i'm sure gonna have fun with it!

John, the riser block is what will allow you to resaw, it is sold separately, you install it under your on/off switch where that big bolt is, you take that bolt off and rise the upper wheel and have to install a bigger blade because now you can achieve more depth of cut by lifting the whole thing!

Ron, my all spruce man, Thank you, thank you, thank you, i copied the whole file, i'm gonna have fun reading this!

Carlton, your idea of building one sounds better than cutting our own, i shouldn't push my luck with my wife!

Thanks Jeff! i got the shop vac but i'm looking into air filtration and the fein cyclone thingie as well!

Al, thanks, will follow tthis advice, sounds like the one Todd showed on a previous thread on bandsaws!

A lot of good reading to do!
