Thanks Steve

I wash coat the whole thing with shellac and then apply the Danish Oil over the Top of it, No Grain Filler at all.

I think it is an optical ellusion.
Russ, that's really nice-- and I, too, like the wood combo.
Shellac / Danish oil, huh? Do you seal first w/ straight shellac? And the top looks "glossier" than the sides / back. Is that an optical delusion?

Steve
Steve,

Russell has a clear pickguard on the top there that gives the top more shine in the photos.

Cool Hesh

Thats a really good service Tony is providing you, and his prices seem pretty good as he does the whole finishing job.

I rather like being labelled Grumpy, as I usually get moaned at for being too cheerful so it kind of appeals .

Gorgeous.

Your finishing schedule is interesting; some mandolin people like to French polish over their varnishes. Danish oil is actually a type of varnish, no? Anyways, I like the way it looks on yours!

Yes you are right Danish Oil would be better described as a Wiping Varnish. The reason I use Shellac underneath it is to stop it penerating too far into the wood.
