I got a chipout while doing a black Acaicia guitar and after that I started doing the binding channel in two steps on curly wood like that. I route the purfling channel and then set the bit for about 3/4's of the binding channel, make a pass and then go for the full depth. I haven't had a problem since. Also use a nice sharp bit of course.

Brock, I'm probably not the guy to answer the question--at least in the detail you are seeking. I don't measure the bending temps, as I'm simply bending over a hot pipe. (Well, that electric bender shaped like an egg.) So my temps are hot and hotter. I bent the Bubinga on "hotter". Turned the iron on and let it get really hot before attempting the bend. No problems.
