Glad things didn't turn out worse!

Your incident reminded me of your brothers near miss with the rags igniting in the back of his pick-up.

I don't use a timer either -- I think its time for me to drop my cavalier "it won't happen to me" attitude.

Steve, I did the same thing once. Only I left my bindings in the bender for 3 days before I went back down to the shop.

I went and purchased a 10 min timer, which is plenty of time to bend sides or bindings. Actually, I think it was the timer that came with my bender when I got it from John H., so I may have already had it.

Sorry it had to happen to you, but it is much better that you have a chance to correct things with the only loss being a set of bindings.

Well, that and a shattered sense of complacency. But good riddance, right?

Thanks Dave,

Steve

Thanks again, guys.

Mike--how long before the smoke smell goes away? Currently my shop smells like a smoke house. I don't know whether to work or eat.

Anthony--"Cavalier" is the perfect word for a less-than-perfect attitude.

Brian--holy cow, that's generous! Thank you! But, I'm ok on binding strips. (It's just a shame to have to use 2 guitars' worth on one instrument....)
Oh, by the way, that beautiful set of myrtle is finally being put to use. A young man from our church wants to learn lutherie, so I'm coaching him. I'm building a guitar along side his effort, and thus each step is illustrated as I try to explain it. So, as he builds his mahogany guitar, I'm using this myrtle to build a guitar of my own. It really is a lovely set!

Thanks,

Steve

As bad as it was you are one lucky guy. Don't feel bad, that kind of thing can and will happen to all of us.

Steve, in my shop, which is an out building, I just ran two big box fans with the door open for a couple of hours, and between the other smells with glues and finishing going on it went away pretty quick. Yours however might take a little longer since it is better insulated and sheet rocked.

Good luck my friend

Cool deal Steve!! I have been kinda stealth lately as I have been knockin out a few builds myself here (I have a very cool thing goin with a big local player). What top have you chosen for that Myrtle? If you haven't started the top yet PM me, I think I have something that will work very well with that set. I have been wanting to use it myself with a sister set to that one but I just don't think I will get to it anytime in the next several months....I think it will give it a piano like quality.

Hey, just got back from celebrating our anniversary.
(Been away for a couple of days.)
Thanks again for the concerns, guys.

Steve
