I love your build, especially all the snake bindings and miters. Beautiful job. I am not familiar with Nara, although I have seen it listed on Bob C web site. What does it compare to in terms of workability and tone?? t sure is beautiful wood.
I think it is very much like Koa tone wise Just a bit brighter but very warm in the mid tones and workd like a dream

That is beautiful! I really like it! What kind of finish are you planning on using?

It is getting a high gloss KTM9 per customer request. If I had my way I would French polish this one.

Love the guitar, but "bound Carp" sounds like a very strange fisherman's fetish...

That is a great looking guitar. The snakewood complements the Narra very nicely. Good dramatic choices.

Beautiful guitar!

I'm building a curly bubinga guitar that has figure similar to that narra, and I had planned on using snakewood but was unsure if it would look too visually busy with those figures together. I see now that it can work really well! Hmmmm... (BTW, if I was going to use narra, I would have to come up with a different name for it in Norwegian. Narra = fooled, tricked, double crossed etc. )

That's one sweet guitar there Michael. You must have some considerable time in that rosette huh. Very cool.

Surprisingly a lot less time than I figured it would take. I cut the Koa segments in an hour the first day. The second day I had to make a couple new ones due to one breaking across the grain while fitting purfling. Then set down and miter purfed the 12 pieces, routed the top for the rosette, inlaid the rosette and scraped and leveled in a 12 hour day. i figured it would be a half a week project but I sat down and worked with out food or drink for 12 hours and it was done. just kidding I took breaks but once I got started It all came together pretty quick

WOA, WOA, and WOA!

Michael,

When you first posted pics of the rosette, I tried to imagine what the rest of the instrument could look like to do the rosette justice. Now I know.

Please tell us it does have a wash coat!
