Sorry for the rant Lance, but this sort of thing really does annoy the rest of the 'World', and lets face it 95% of the world isn't America. In my own sport of long range shooting, for years the US Williamsport Gun Club called their 1000yd small group record, the 'World record' until the World governing body complained to the NRA of America. Aren't Americans proud enough of their own country to just claim American records or call it the America Series?

Second rant over, Sorry, I'll shut up now.

Colin

Maybe we should just refer to it as "The Fall Classic"

Colin, you make a very good point about the attitude of the US as BEING the World. At the risk of getting political, I'll drop it at that.
And to prove my ignorance toward professional sports: Isn't it theoretically possible that a Canadian team could make it to the "Fall Classic"? Thus making it an international event?
And for those that think St. Louis is perfect and doesn't cheat, might I remind you:

(end of rant)
Interesting story: Ozzy Smith got his baseball start in my home town of Clarinda Ia. Playing college ball in a summer league called the JayHawk league. He became a close friend to pretty much all of the 5000 people that inhabit that little town. My family was personal guests of his at a playoff game a long time ago. He put our names on the scoreboard and everything. (man, I hope my 15 minutes of fame aren't over now). We were going to go out to dinner with him but his, then infant, son was having a bad night so they gave us a rain check. Hmmmm, I should call him and cash in on that raincheck right about now. Series tickets would be nice.

I love Hockey(of course) but rarely watch an entire game anymore, i'd rather be in the shop building guitars than watching sissies complaining about their salary conditions nowadays, there's hardly no sense of courage and dedication to the team spirit anymore, ah well, it might change one day, i'm an eternal optimistic!
