The shutter info is recorded, but I can't remember and I don't have access right now. I try to have at least 1/4 second exposure, longer being better. One disappointment with the D50 is that I can't set the ISO any lower than 200. Having used Fuji Velvia a lot with an ISO of 50 (32 camera setting), it was much easier to get a longer exposure.
As for the tripod, I'm a big believer in using a tripod, but interesting enough, none of these pictures was made with a tripod. The Nikon 18-200 VR lens that I have has electronic image stabilization. As you can see, it is a pretty amazing lens, and the reason I went with Nikon instead of Canon.
