Wow guys, I'm honored! Thank you.

Colin, let me get a closer shot of the neck/peghead area.
That middle neck lamination is Koa, in the hopes that it would help tie some of the design elements together. And, the back of the peghead has Brazilian/Koa/Braz. veneers.

I would have used Gold tuners on this guitar, I think they would look a bit more in keeping with all else, but the owner--Ben--prefers chrome. So there you go. And again, as long as he is smiling, right?

Evan, you made me laugh, but you know what? It IS a rewarding concept. I need to incorporate it more often...feels good.

JJ, I'm so clogged up with work for next year, that I might as well send that WFB to you. And no kidding, that guitar you posted just haunts me. I so badly want to get going on mine, but....

Again, thanks so much, amigos. It means a lot.

Steve

Actually Steve it is the most important concept I have found to sustain business. Even if something can't be done make your client feel good about it somehow. The next most important concept is of course.... chocolate.
Evan

Don't y'all just hate guys with talent

A lot of nice detail went into that guitar -- brazilian, rosette, backstrapping, binding, inlay ... Absolutely superb Steve!

very classy guitar...the combination of the very conservative BRW with the flash of the Koa really made a great combination...there are so many little details like the back of the peghead veneers echoing the combination of the neck lamination that ties it all together...

I think that the combination of the satisfaction of having completed a successful instrument coupled with the delight of the new owner of that instrument is something that only a builder can understand and appreciate. When people ask why someone would build a guitar by hand made up of hundreds of small pieces of wood only to sell it for as little as an instrument goes for, I just smile...they can not begin to enjoy the feeling...

Congratulations, Enjoy!!

Thanks Steve, I'm not normally a great fan of laminated necks, but I have to say that one has class written all over it (better than having koi all over it!). I may just have to copy that one, I have no shame you know!

Colin
Steve, when will you bring one with you to Houston?
Joshua, we're due sometime at the first of the year to make another trip to Clark's. Perhaps then?
I'll have to see if there's anything finished at that point. Or does work in progress interest you?

Steve

Fryo, Anthony, Pat, Shawn, Billy, Todd & Matt, thank you for your encouragement and kind words! As I said before, it means a lot.

Colin, no shame in a lam neck. And I'm honored that there is a thought--even--of copying.

Evan, Yea chocolate! Yea happy customers!

Steve

Steve - a completed one, one in progress - whatever you got! I'll buy you lunch.

Again... great job on that guitar. Shawn's comments were right on. You have a truly great eye for style. Thats something I think all makers should work for... its difficult to envision things and how they will come together/work together as you start a new instrument. You've got it licked (must be in the family blood).

Bro
VERY nice work. I really like that rosewood. Take a picture of it in the sun and see if it fluoresces green. (or did you try that already?)
Mostly I agree with Colin, that laminated neck that repeats the koa/black of the purfling is great. I plan to copy that too.

WHOA! Stop the presses!
We smoked out my brother!
Good to see the Eastern wing of the family, bro!
Thanks for the kind remarks. No, I didn't get a pic of that wood in sunlight. I did hold it up to a sunbeam streaming through the window, though. Caught a hint of that green. Amazing stuff, that Brazilian.

Joshua, if you're buying, how about tomorrow?

Alambert, muchas gracias!

Steve
