Arnt, I have a fence just like yours. I love it! Hope you enjoy yours too!

Hesh, I intend to get some pics up as soon as the neck gets finished. I'm looking forward to playing this one and it may be mine to keep.

Couldn't put in any words,on my last post.  Probably should have put words in first. Anyway, building a maple/ spruce Weissey style, and a koa one too.  I'm going to see how different they sound, and, I think by building two at the same time will save a lot of time. Alan.

Just thought I would share some pics of 4 bodies that went into the spray booth today. These are low res pics and there is only one coat of finish on the boxes at this point.

Four boxes hanging from left to right - Honduran RW Highlander shallow body, Madagascar RW Highlander deep body, Scarlet East Indian RW Highlander deep body and a JumboMac EIR deep body:

Honduran Rosewood Highlander, shallow body with Curly Maple bindings:

1959 Sitka Spruce top, Honduran RW rosette with a ring of MOP diamond stars in the center.

Madrose back with Ebony bindings:

1959 Sitka Spruce top, Ebony rosette with MOP "Pearl Necklace" center ring.

Scarlet Red EIR Highlander with Bloodwood bindings:

Adi top with Spalted Maple rosette:

EIR JumboMac with curly Maple bindings:

Adi top, EIR rosette with "Rope" (Walnut/Maple) purflings:

Thanks for looking.

Well,

I have hesitated posting to the "where are you at" threads because I just go backwards sometimes it seems! But I am getting close. So right now the shop is an entire mess as I am plumbing in the big compressor with 3/4 inch copper pipe. Once that is done I will putting the small spray booth together and then cleaning up and getting back to finishing up guitar #1 and starting the next batch of two Flamencos and then a batch of three steel strings......I better get busy! I just seem to have time for only cutting wood these days!

Shane

Well Bud.....

I get out there every other day to fill the humidifier.

That's it

Awesome progress by everyone here.

Wade that is one killer looking guitar you have going there.

Tim what a collection, you and John are above the clouds with your work and progress

I'll get back out there some day, just not today.

I've been spending most of my time with my nose in school books (with well deserved study breaks here at the OLF mind you). You guys are really helping feed my addiction, thank you.....I think
WOW!!! Tim they are all beautiful!!

Honduran Rosewood is to date the best sounding B/S wood that I have ever used so I am a real fan of the stuff.

As always your creations are superb in all respects. Are any of these "double sides?"
Thanks for all of the kind words of encouragement guys.

Hesh, I agree, Honduran RW is an excellent tonewood in all respects. I love the way it works and smells too. The only downside is that it is heavy.

Yes, these all have "double sides". I have abandonded single sides in favor of DS's. Once you build with them, it's really a no-brainer. ;)
Pat nice bending form and glad to hear that you are back in the saddle. To a lesser degree and with some motivation from some of my OLF pals I am doing some shopt time now too. Feels great.
Thanks, Hesh! Yup it's great! But dang, it sure took awhile.

Well for the last two weeks I have been wasting many hours learning
how to use this.....

It's an old South Bend Heavy 10 metal lathe. And when they say HEAVY
they ain't messin'.. This thing weighs about 1200lbs!

I have been working on making some reproduction banjo parts as well as
some tooling projects. I'll post some pics of the new saddle mill when
she's up and running. I'm working on getting the router mounted tonight.

Here is my copy of an old Bacon banjo nut next to an original.

Here is a picture of the cutters I made to make reproducing batches of
these things rather simple.

And here is a sneak peak at the back of an ebony Slope D that I'm
working on...

Enjoy!

Louis

Hesh, you may have already answered this, but are you going to paint the top of the L-OO-2 black as well?

I just love what you did with the L-OO!

So many beautiful instruments, it just makes me giddy. I can't begin to say how cool this thread is. Here is what is in my shop about half polished.
