BTW: What the heck is vegamite? Or is that "down-under" terminolgy for Ron's beans, cabbage, and cornbread? With the word "mite" in it I thought it might be explosive like dynamite.
Vegemite is the food of the gods. Actually it's made of the crud left over from beer making. It was either end up, up to our necks in it, or learn how to eat it. I think you have to be raised on it from early childhood or you'd never eat it. It's also pretty good for hangovers - lots of B group vitamins.

In fact I had two vegemite sandwiches for lunch today. See how many other OLFers can say that!
Hi Paul: Vegemite sounds like "the hair of the dog that bit you" if it is made from leftover beer crud!

Good for hangovers you say....interesting.

In Newfoundland, Canada (I have family there and visit) they have this rum called "Screech" that the locals drink like water. It is the alcohol "washings" from the bottom of rum barrels. I have a feeling vegamite might be the thing to get that "Screech" taste off ones tongue.

Thanks!
I saw this only this morning and posted in reply to Serge's SOS. Thank goodness you have reconsidered. I, too, have found your presence enjoyable and refreshing. Our broad human base is only one of the factors that makes this forum so special. I for one also consider "Educators to be the gatekeepers of our future." I may have just made that up-otherwise someone let me know if I just ripped off some philosopher.MT
Thanks Mike, we educators do have an important job. If more kind folks like you realized that the future of our nation depends on a strong educational foundation for each child, we would have everyone better prepared the enter the current social revolution: the technological era and the fast approaching 5th revolution: bioeconomy.

You didn't steal the quite: You are just spreading the information.

Jeanne,
Can you believe this outpouring for you to stay with us?
What an impression you've made on all of us OLFers and only being here for less than a month! Wow! How could you leave us now? I'm really glad you will be here for the long run.And I can't wait to see that guitar of yours once you get started on it.

Hi Dave,

I will say that each and ever posting is humbling and emotionally overwhelming.

The word wonderful doesn't even being to describe this family.

I sit here and smile as I read all the sincere requests and then the expressions of happiness at my decision to stay.

My first guitar will be one built with my OLF family and friends in mind during each and every step I make toward making my dream a reality. It will hold very special meanings for me!

Jeanne- my first wife of 31 years, whom I still respect and in a friendly way, cherish, was an elementary school teacher for 24 years and taught special ed before they called it that. For the past 13 years she has been a principal. Our daughter, almost 28 years old, has been a middle school special education teacher since 2001.My undergraduate degree is in English Literature and History(since I'm a lousy typist, that background does not always shine in my posts).Mike T.

Yes, Lance has developed a terrific forum here!

A terrific forum with terrific people building terrific guitars!

Before anyone jumps in here and says their"guitars are anything but terrific" - STOP! Not everyone or anyone can build a guitar. Not everyone has a vision to see it from start to finish. Those who do are not just visionaries - but luthiers. Terrific luthiers of terrific guitars.

The self-proclaimed "Donette" of terrific luthing has spoken !
Well Done Jeanne

I'm always a bit worried to post on your threads, as my spelling is truely terrible.

Russ
Russ, Don't ever, ever be worried about your spelling!!!

I work with 2nd graders and I will admit here and now most of them have terrible penmanship and atrocious spelling.

I as their teacher I must "wade" through it and make sense to perserve their little self-esteems by repeating back to them what they wrote and graciously showing them the "proper" form.

So, I am blind to mis-spells.

Please, please do not fear posting behind my posts.

OK!

Jeanne,

Glad you're staying with us!

Aren't second graders a hoot? I had a ball with "my" second-grade class during my student teaching. They're just so darn... well, human.

Jeanne, have you seen some of the cool smiles some of the folks here have made? Billy T dubbed them "Sergicons"

Take a look, Sergicons

Jeanne,

Thank you for reconsidering, it brightens my day. Here are a few lines from "Each And All" by Emerson, that I feel sum up the OLF to me.

Jeff

"Nor knowest thou what argument
Thy life to thy neighbor's creed has lent.
All are needed by each one;
Nothing is fair or good alone."

Hi Jeff, What a touching piece from Emerson!

Thank you for aptly stating what the OLF is about. It is right on!

My days are happier now that I am comfortably back "home" with my OLF friends.

Jeanne, the banging head one was used by Lance when we did not behave properly, you can see how well this forum is managed huh!

The Lil Bears were offered to me by Rod and Super Teddy was later modified by Billy Genius T, this one is playing Elvis's J 200 !
Serge: I adore the GIANT smiley-face!

I think you and I should petition Lance for a few other emoticons. You have any thoughts as to which ones we need?

Afterall, if we are the "goodwill" ambassadors of the forum, we need some additional artistic emoticons!

What do you think!
We've got lots of emoticons:

Thanks Ron!

I've now got them into the "Official OLF Sergicon Folder"....if only I could get my act together and access the file to use, it would be a tech-miracle!

Isn't it a shame that Serge is so shy and reserve

We love you Serge! Jeanne38942.7923148148

Jeanne,
I know that we havent bantered at all in then threads yet, but reading this post Im glad you have decided to stay. Im not sure of what the impetus was for your initial reaction, and I dont even think it needs to be touched upon again.
I once found myself caught in a "fray" here at the OLF, when I was a fresh member, I felt it was best I hit the road, and I was quietly considering leaving ...... but the kind people here just made it too hard.
Especially one Gentle Ben
I think that if you feel discouraged by someone you should let it roll off, thats what I did, and do........ and it seems like thats what you decided to do also.
Sometimes its easy to read something the wrong way, sometimes someone is really passionate about something and will step on anothers toes, sometimes someone might just be a little cranky and say something they shouldnt.
But its no reason to leave
the one thing I do find is that there arent many if any ppl here at the OLF with superiority-itus, who come down on someone like a ton of bricks if they speak from a point/position of "lack of experience".
on the contrary.
Cheers
Charliewood
