If we can come up with something clever and humorous, but without passing any value judgement on someones skills then I see no objection to changing it.
Thats great Brock...
how about we start out as a Mando or a Ukelele and slowly climb up to larger istruments like a Classical guitar , 6 string, 12 strings... and sponsors could be Baritones??

Just a funny idea! Besides I need more posts so I can be purple like Hesh and Serge!
That's good too peter, but some would think that size matters or something silly like that

BWA HA HA HA!

Serge ol' buddy ol pal, you gotta admit that's funny!

Shane, I think we should add one more in there:

Or, even though I'm not a proponent of evolution....

"Single Cell"
"Amoeba"
"On Dry Land"
"Flippers Turning Into Feet"
"Blowhole Closing Up Nicely"
"Walking Erect"

Or something like that....

Brock and Lance, it really dosn't matter what you change it to......

Just do it quick please so Hesh will get rid his crazy Barney picture. We'll be doomed to see that one for ever unless he becomes a sponsor.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

If a few people are insecure about their rank, that is their problem. Everyone else should't have to be changed to suit them. I've waited more than a year to reach old timer.

This may not be a big deal, but a lot of little deals add up. You're taking away from the character of the forum.

If we have to change (still don't understand why), I vote for Hesh's idea. At least it makes some sense so you can remember it. I read the original post, went back to the forum and had already forgotten which color was which. The only problem I can see is that Colin will want to make mahogany the highest level.

Frankly I am sad, this forum has always been a safe haven for me and all my color blind luthier friends. Now I can't see any of you anymore.... I will be the guy wearing black and white at the next Symposium
Actually I am glad I will not be "grizzled" my wife and I went to Glacier National Park and we heard about all the folks who were grizzled. Pretty nasty.

It is going to be hard for me to admit to taking advice and scouring for nuggets of wisdom from PURPLE, BLUE and GREEN folk.

Well I don't care.

Though seeing Frank Ford with Newbie status was a little strange.

Although you provide the facility, the members 'are' the forum.

Colin
I'm afraid I'm going to have to side with Colin on this.

If the forum 'Owners' spend all their time greasing the few squeeky wheels, and disregard the collective wishes of the general population, this may soon become an entirely different place.

If that is really what you think, I am sad. We have tried very hard and continue to do so to keep the OLF fresh, fun, interesting and safe for all (no easy task). Some times we have to make difficult decisions. This was one of them. Its sad that anyone even needs to "take a side"

I am sorry...

Just for the sake of the OLF....

It seems to me that there have been a bit of strange forces trying to divide us lately and all i want to say now is that we do not need to be divided on this. Please people, let's regroup behind our very fine leaders, they are working their butts off so we can have the most human and decent of forums on guitar making and THAT, is to be APPLAUDED more than to curse at such a minute change, come on now my friends, i beg you all to regroup as a community made of the finest people i exchange ideas with, extended division itself would harm the OLF, let's think of that please.

My purple color suits me better than my grizzled vet status exactly because i post more than build and often felt that it would offense some of the pros so i'm not bringing down Lance and Brock's idea, i think we'll see what it does very quick and i trust our Kahunas to make good decisions again if need be.

Just my opinion

Regards

Serge

I really like the wood idea.

Lance and Brock: This is the best forum I've ever participated on. It's
basically hiccup free. Your administration is superb. That's from my
experience developing medium sized DB driven sites, hosting websites,
and from my strange desire to be a 25 year old hanging out on forums
whenever the good games aren't on. Thank you.

I'm not a fan of the colors, think the wood idea is really cool, and know
you'll get PM's about the supremity of mahogany from my fellow
mahoganites.

This is done. I am sorry if you disagree, but this is a very small thing and I don't think it is worth our energy to discuss it.

I see no need to discuss the topic further.
