Thanks, everybody. Well they're finally done. Here's what the whole batch looks like taking up four feet of counter space.

I ran into a little hiccup at the end. It seems the metal guys shorted me by about 50 pieces. That means that I wasn't able to run the 20.5" ones. Since this was just thrown in for good measure, I'm pretty sure know one will miss it. If you want one, send me an email and I'll ship it out separately when I get more brass (couple weeks).

Otherwise, these will be shpping as soon as I can divide them up into sets and pack them up.

Thanks to everyone for their patience and for participating.

Very, very cool! Looking forward to my set!

May I ask how you made them? CNC, or a jig of sorts?

Thanks Mario. I had a whole big plan to use a combination of the CNC and some clever jigs, but when the response became so enthusiastic, I had to rethink the whole thing. Otherwise, I'd still be doing it with no end in site.

I borrowed (bought) some time on a Mori Seiki VMC. It's actually slower than my machine in terms of top rapid traverse speed, but with the tool-changing capability and high-pressure coolant, I was able to churn out 4 pieces every 2 minutes and 47 seconds using three different tools and a vise that I made specifically for this.

I spent three and a half days standing in front of that machine switching out parts every 2 minutes and 47 seconds.

Well, you asked...

I'll be doing another run in the next week or so because orders continue to roll in. In fact, this is a good time to mention/declare that the OLFer price has expired. If you have already Paypal'd me, you're in at $50, but that's it.

They'll be available after the next run on my web site in the "Luthier's Store" section at more reasonable price which will still be quite a bit less than comparable cauls sell for elsewhere.

I should add an update here for everyone; the Post Office did not have enough priority mail boxes for me so they are shipping them to me. I will try to turn around all of the orders the same day I get those since I'm already passed the day I said they would probably ship out. Thanks again for your continued patience.

John,
Thanks very much for your efforts in making up these sets and for giving us such a good deal on the price.

Jim,

I finally got the boxes from USPS on Friday, so they all shipped out yesterday.

Lookin' forward to getting them! I've gotten two packages of wood in the mail in the last two days (a boatload of MadRose, Ebony and EIR fingerboards, a few bridge blanks, and a pair of lovely black Limba electric body blanks), and more's always welcome!
