Wow, that's a really beautiful car. Impressive specs too. That would be an ideal luthier car, for an old retired luthier person like me.

I wonder how much noise that thing makes?

Fast and silent sounds like fun, but it doesn't seem to make it very safe for pedestrians trying to cross the road.

Wow! It's come down in price! I think it was going for $108,000 at first.

I love small roadsters.

I also have been waiting for something exactly like this.

I also will never be able to afford something like this.

Nevermind.....

Those Lithium Ion batteries are great, but there are safety concerns that are not addressed.

Great lookin car...but why make a 92,000 dollar electric sports car? If they want to prove the viability of electric cars why don't they come up with something the average person can afford and will want to drive?

My bet is that making a car that only performs to 'consumer' specs would save them a relatively small amount on the price tag of production. But, if they get a bunch out there then maybe quantity will bring down the cost of the electric motors to a scale that would make a consumer car possible. Something that performs like a Ford Taurus might still cost enough to manufacture that they'd need to sell it for $80,000.

I ran into this sort of thing shopping for CNC machines. A lot of the time the controller cards and whatnot are worth a lot so the difference in cost between two machines with different table sizes or horsepower are a lot smaller than one might expect.

edit: I'm hoping that top part happens with the lowered costs and whatnot. I'd love to have an almost silent car with something as reliable as an electric engine. When we get something with better energy density than Li-Ion batteries the range will increase drastically and make it really viable (they're doing some neat things with micro-turbines, something to watch for). Of course, right now power in the US is mostly from really dirty generators so the electric car, when you count what got put into the air generating the electricity, might be dirtier overall than a hybrid or even an efficient gas burner...Bob Garrish39097.0873958333

Unfortunatly the real problem with the electric car is the gas company and the big three north american car companies.

If you really want an eye opener, take a look at who killed the electric car
