I have a 'stock' 12 fret, mortise and T. neck. I want to widen the headstock. I am going to use Grover 18:1, for slot-head. Can I widen headstock. If I do will the tuners work correctly. If so, show much can I add by laminate w/o running into tuner problems?

I would think it's of course possible. My concern would be that after widening(adding wings) then cutting the slots you might cut away a large portion of the joint. That make any sense?

Just lay it out then see how much of your joint is left and go from there. When it's finished you can strengthen it with a head plate and back strap.

Might also get better respone by moving this to the regular forum.

Thanks Ron
What I want to do is laminate stock on the side 'depth' of headstock & bore holes same place. Only the area from edge of Lam to the outside edge of nearest slot. How much can I add to the thickness of this area w/o running into problems w/ tuners.

How do I move it to regular forum?
Thanks much,bob J39093.5038078704
