Hello, everyone. Matt Jacobs, Bruce Dickey and I are discussing another OLF get together. Last time was soooo good and we thought others might be able to make it this time. It will be at Old Man's home/shop, somewhere in the middle of Arkansas. We are shooting for March 3rd. This announcement is just a warning so you have time to check your calendars. Would like to see anyone in the area come join us. Especially would like to see people not in the area, too. Details will follow as I get an idea how many to expect.   If you are interested in coming, let me know.

I'm sure I won't be able to do it that weekend, or the one before or after it, but don't change plans on my account, I know it's hard to nail down a date.

Cecil, Where are you located?

When we had the OLF ARK Get Together last august, Dave Rector won the tub of lard for Longest Drive from Jones Oklahoma, a mere 261 miles to russellville. Dave is a glutton for punishment or, maybe, he just loves building guitars?

Anyway, below, find a few cities nearby to Beebe Arkansas that are at or below the distance Dave drove 261 MILES:

Springfield, Mo
Neosho, Mo
Rolla Mo
Jackson TN
Tupelo MS
Grenada MS
Shreveport LA
Sulphur Springs TX
Broken Bow OK
McAlester OK
and finally, Broken Arrow, OK

The entire state of Arkansas is included in less than 261 miles. Anyone as DieHard as Dave? Come on.

Ron, What are we gonna do at this ShinDig NO.2?

I like the map, Bruce. I don't know what we're going to do, I thought you were the entertainment director!

Same as last time: Talk shop, tour my shop, check out everyone's handmade guitars, talk shop, talk jigs, eat something, talk shop, and, I think we need to jam some. I might even break out the old banjar.

I think Hesh ought to rent a truck and bring a bunch of our northern friends down here.

There may be a couple of door prizes. (I have a couple of doors that I don't need.)

Should be downhill all the way from Canada, Serge.    Maybe you could carpool with Rod and Alain. I've driven nearly that far for a one day event, back when I was a pup.

Would sure love to meet you, brother.

Spare me a door Ron (for another year tho!), i think that if there was a slight chance to make it to your place, it would be a downhill on skis or what we call a Crazy carpet over here! Only problem would be to get back up that long hill though

Heartbroken and plain broke, i would but i can't bro but please, find a way to record the banjitar on camera for us please!

Have fun guys, i know you will!

Dave, I know a shortcut. Pick me up on your way through town. Paul Gandy is over by Ft. Smith. We could have a good time just gettin' there, Bruce

LetsEatPaste, it's simple, just call in sick. Use that cell phone, that's what it's for man... Bruce Dickey39094.0067939815

Ron, I know you are an old man and full of wisdom, but I am jealous.....

That Sylvan knows his stuff and I predict that they will have a tremendous luthier extravaganza. Sylvan is such a gracious host he offered me all his air miles to come there....      Unfortunately, he only has enough miles to get me barely off the end of the runway in Little Rock and I didn't feel I could glide into Northern Virginia the rest of the way.....with a parachute...

In my best Justin Wilson voice: "They're gonna have a great time, I GARONTEE!"   .. ... but so are we.

Hey, Dave we would love to meet you. You could set the new record for distance traveled.

Your attendance would make Dave Rector look bad if he can't make it.

Hey, quit it Ron!

Maybe Dave could head straight south from Wichita to OKC and we could meet up and drive east from here. What ya think Dave?

Sounds cool Dave. I work in Wichita, maybe I could leave work on Friday and drive to OK city get a motel room and then get up early Saturday and head on in? Got to ask the Girlfriend/Wife and see what she says!

Bruce,

Sorry to take so long to reply, I haven't been on line since my last post.

I am definitly not a candidate for longest distance. I am in south central MO.,West Plains to be exact, about 100 miles south and east of Springfield.

I missed the last gettogether because of a conflict with the Missouri State Council of Machinst conference. They will be meeting again in March. I havent gotten the conference call yet so I don't know the date this year. I hope there is no conflict this time.

Hey Cecil, that's fine. I hope you get to come. I've heard of West Plains, sounds like you are not to far which is great.

I heard from another OLF Lurker who showed up at the first ARKANSAS get together in Russellville. Paul Gandy is near Ft. Smith and is offering to team up with with other OLFers coming through the Ft. Smith area.

Paul is a non-smoker, but says smoke stops wouldn't be a problem. I too am a non-smoker, quit way back in '76. I think it's only smart to catch a ride together and share gas costs too. Thanks Paul, we'll see as you said, when we get a bit closer.

Yeah, I was just joshing.    Sylvan definitely knows his stuff. I've spent a lot of time on his site and built many of his jigs. Wish I could go to that one too.
