I was wondering if anyone had specs on a pyramid bridge.stew Mac had some basic specs ,but not really detailed for the pyramid sections on the ends. Also I was wanting opinions on sound quality of a pyramid as oppossed to a Martin style bridge.

The lighter the bridge, the more responsive the top will be...that translates into better sound quality. Pyramid bridges are lighter than Martin blly bridges. I've used Pyramids onabout 4 guitars. I have no data to prove that pyramids are better...just that the lighter I keep the components the better my chances are of achieving good sound quality.

On the specs, John Watkins may have more detailed dimensions.

I think there are different sizes in pyramid bridges. I bought one of the stew mac ones to use as a template when making my own. Comparing it to the one described in GAL's martin 1-18 plan shows that the 1-18 bridge is something like 1/8" smaller all round.

James, I have all the specs, but it would be a long list. What did you want to know specifically.

I can tell you that a Martin bridge (from Martin) is about 34 grams. My pyramid is 26 grams and StewMac's is 24 grams.

I was pretty much wondering about the actual pyramid part.Like how high it sticks up? about how far from the edge to where it gets full thickness, and stuff.like that. James

The peaks are .188" tall not counting the pedestal and .5" in from the edge on three sides.
