Hey Lance...if you don't mind me asking, why do you use reverse-kerfed linings on the back, and traditional angled linings on the top? Just curious.

Your work is so CLEAN...that's artful.

Thanks guys,

Bill, no reason, just cuz
Hesh, that taped off back is a Malaysian Black wood E2 for HGF. I tape off the back before paring and sanding the braces to protect it from those nasty little sanding scratches. Also, no this is not sealed on the inside.

...But sanded to 2000 grit Man that is beautiful Lance. This is going to be a real beauty! I still think you do some the cleanest work around. Way to go!

Lovely clean work as usual, Lance, you really are the king of clean. One minor criticism if I may, that neck looks a bit thick

The Malaysian blackwood looks quite elegant ... great job on the bookmatching.

I was looking at your neck joint -- I didn't realize you do them that way. Do you bolt your fingerboard extension down as well?

Thanks for sharing Lance -- it's a joy to see such fine execution.

Lance--

Thank you for sharing the photo's. I can only echo what everyone else is saying, "Man, that is clean work!"

The cocobolo is certainly spectacular as it sits, its going to be unbelievable under a finish.

Lance,

You are quite a craftsman. That is about as clean an assembly as I have seen. I really like the way you sand the B&S to a shean!

So you say you glue the braces down, clean the squeeze out then mask before shaving and sanding? Joe Beaver39096.5360648148

King of Clean is right!!   Very nice.

Lance, do you not use and type of side braces?

Yup, its cocobolo.

Ron, I dont use side braces except on dreadnoughts. Bigger flatter sides that are more flexable.
Lance, certainly pretty work . The wood looks fantastic. Several have noted it is Cocobolo ... doesn't look like it to me - can you clarify what the back and sides are?

Filippo
Yeah, it is coco... he got it from me.... It is one of the wildest pieces I have ever seen -- and quartersawn.

OOPPS thanks Hesh. What do I know as I've only used two types of backs and sides - flamed big leaf maple and quilted

Lance -- would be nice if you could explain you neck joint.

Lance, that's looking really good. I wish my HGF guitars were that far along.

Lance...In light of the reported gluing difficulties of Coco, what glue or method are you using?
