I am considering getting an air filter to clean up my shop air and was wondering what experience people have had. I have a single stage dust collector (Delta) and it seems to do a decent jobs on the tools that are hookup to it. It just seems that I always end up grabbing a tool that isn't hooked up to the dust collector (ROS or router, etc) and it makes a mess. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Brad,

I use the WorkShop filter system from Lee Valley; Here and find it to be quite good. It's easy to clean and consumes little power.

However, there is no subsitute for a real dust collector at the tool site. For this I use the Delta and wheel it to each station. I have found unless the collector, and mine does not, has the suction capacity for at network of pipes it's best to have it brought to the work site. The less dust in the air the better.

P.S. You might want to upgrade the filer bag if you're getting a lot of dust being sent into the air by the dust collector. Also available at Lee Valley.

I've got one like Hesh that I use in the house, but it probably isn't large enough for your shop. I just added one of these in the shop.

Jet air filter

So far it seems to work very well. Three speed and remote control.
