Received my three sets of Lutz from Shane this week. Hesh, you were dead on with this stuff. Stiff and what a ring to it. Can't wait to start next project with this materials.

Question, (maybe for Shane) - I usually let my wood sit a couple weeks in my humidity controlled work shop. Has this wood been seasoned at all??? Thinking I might put it in the house oven and bake it for a little bit before stickering in the workshop.

Also, I dropped a note to Shane, but are you guys using Lutz brace materials as well and is it stiffer/stronger/lighter than Adi??

This one set is going on a parlor guitar with a Cherry back and sides, or maybe Sapele - both of which I have on hand - not sure which one yet.

Lucky Ducks,
Im dying to check out Shanes wood - in fact I was going to place an order this month, except my cat got sick... and its costing me $$$$
but she's a good pal and I cant let her down.
anyhow it sounds like great stuff, I have a couple sets from Ed Dicks from a while ago bearclaw sitka and englemann - next purchase is definitely Shane's tops, and a couple sanding dishes.
Sounds like killer stuff - but I dont have a hard time believing it... the trees up there around Terrace and Northern BC are freaking amazing!
Cheers

Rich, yes the stuff is fantastic for sure, i used lutz brace stock on my current build, easy to carve and plenty stiff, you'll be en amour with it, before you know it, when leaving your shop, you're gonna say Ti Amo to it and kiss it good night!

Thanks Serge, Is it comparable to Adi for weight, strength?

Rich, honestly, i don't know, i never tried adi before and can't compare the two but i know that Lutz is very stiff across and along the grain and taps like a bell, i'd wait to hear someone who has tried the two of them.

Lutz;
Brace stock and tops are well cut (split) and are dry when Shane ships them.
This wood is as good as any Adi. (if you have real Adi)
I live in the Adirondacks -there is very little good spruce left!
Adi from somewhere else is just that!

Lutz is a great guitar wood-even for B & Sides for " Flamencos"

Mike, never realized I had an OLF'r so close to my home. Would love a chance to visit with you some time and bring some of my work for you to critique. I went to your web site and also noticed you did a class in Latham NY. Any chance of another?? BTW - I'ee buy the lunch if you have the time.

I've used a LOT of Adi bracewood, and the Lutz is every bit as stiff and much
lighter to boot. In my mind of building that is a very good thing. I vastly
prefer Shane's bracewood to anything I've ever tried....And his Tops rock as
well. Now I just gotta save up some more cash to buy even more to add to
my stash!

Seriously fellas.. Shane is a great guy and sells top notch wood. He knows
how to process it and his prices are tremendous.
