Let's see if we can get more images up here! Here's a method that seems to work. I'll use photobucket here because it provides a link to your image after it's uploadad. Log onto photobucket. com, or create an account if you don't already have one. Click on the Browse button and navigate to your image. Click Upload. After the image is uploaded, scroll down to it and copy the url link text. Be sure to get the entire link; you may have to drag across all of it or use Select All from your browser's Edit menu. Go to OLF bring up a post window. Click on the image button (the one without the arrow) just to the left of the upload image button we usually use. In the window that comes up, which says, "Enter the web address of the image", paste the link url that you copied from photobucket. Click OK. Preview and post. Just about any other photo posting site will work, like Yahoo photos. You may have to copy the link to your photo by right-clicking as they may not have the url link text like photobucket does. Hope this helps! |

Pat...thanks for the explanation. I have always liked the interactive pics on the OLF and have missed them since they have been gone (limited). This sounds like a great fix until things are back to normal. |

I am wondering if when we go to the archives a couple of years from now and try to view pics that were posted this way, will they still show up? Or will pics that are posted by a link to photobucket or yahoo eventually be deleted and then not show up in the archived threads? Seems like that's why Deb suggests uploading your pics on the MIMF rather than posting links to them. Just curious. |

Dave, you are correct, that is also why we decide to allow file uploads too, so that the archives are complete with images. Well get this fixed soon. Brocks tech guy has been out this week other wise it would fixed already. |

You're welcome, guys. Hesh, now you can post progress pics on that L-00? If I have this right, the usual method for posting pics here means that they are uploaded to the OLF servers and a link is created in our posts (the img statement) that points the forum software to where the pic resides. In posting to another place, like photobucket or wherever, the pic lives there and the links in our posts point to that location. It's been uploaded to the host, but not to the OLF. They should show up OK as long as they stay at their original hosted address, but I would guess that archiving doesn't use these links as they're notoriously short-lived. |

It seems like it should be working but all I get is text when I preview the post. Are you using J-Peg images, if that matters? Maybe it's just another Mac thing. |

![]() Works in Firefox. Looks like in Safari, it puts a space into the url when it wraps long urls. |

Thanks! But I'd really like to know how that photo ended up there. I guess you just throw out a bunch into cyberspace and see where they land. |
Thanks! But I'd really like to know how that photo ended up there. I guess you just throw out a bunch into cyberspace and see where they land.
Danny, The url was buried in the gibberish text in your post that was buggered up by Safari. If you copy the link from your pic on photobucket, this is what you get. http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s96/DannyVincent/DSC00883 .jpg It's also what is in the url link text box below your pic in your pbucket album. Paste that into the text box after clicking the upload button that looks like this ![]() and you'll have it. |

There is a second way of doing this folks that may be easier still. The real thing is to make sure and click on the "add image" button, not the "image upload" button. go to any web page where you have pictures uploaded photobucket or what have you. Select the picture you want, right click it and look at proberties of the photo and select the address (make sure you get all of it) now right click and copy the text and come back to the OLF page and paste the address into the text box that pops up when you click on the "add image" button. This is what I get when doing that. ![]() |
