Hey everyone

I've enjoyed picking some new things up this month and started
wondering what your setups are like? And how/where do you use
them? Your couch is a perfectly fine answer because that's where I am
most of the time.

My new, latest and greatest, setup:

My tele with a VanZandt bridge and Fralin blues special neck pickup
- to my peterson strobostomp tuner
- to a Barber Tonepress compressor
- to Boss DD20 delay
- to my amp, a Matchless Lightning clone

The takamine I've had for about ten years now (soon to be replaced with
my mahog/italian)
- to the strobostomp
- to an Avalon U5

I play in my room and in church. The style we play is akin to Charlie
Hall's older releases. At home I like to play somewhere between folk and
soul. And U2 covers. I'd like to play outside of church as well, but the
opportunities don't really present themselves around here.

What about you?

Believe it or not, I have an Abomovation with a cracked heel and a tobacco burst!!! They won't let me play at church, they say... I stink!

I'm so ashamed!

I've been playing my first a whole lot lately... I'll usually be sitting on the couch, playing it 'dry'..

I'm a creature of extremes... When I discovered Miles Davis' 'Kind of Blue', it stayed in my player for about 2 years. It's all I would listen to.

Now since I've discovered Don Ross last September... You can see where I'm going with this... Lets just say that the Ross is the only stuff I mangle and that'll probably be true for a long long while... (sigh)

I used to have a fairly decent studio/PA setup in what is now my shop... I still have the PA but everything (amps-roland cube 60, Peavey VTH (130 watt tube monster), pedals- Boss GT-5, CryBaby and Digitech vocal 300, electric guitars - strat, tele, Ibanez 335 knockoff from the early 70's, Vester, Yamaha bass) are all hidden away under heavy plastic covers... The PA is 'bitting dust' big time!

No.3 will have a K&K trinity set-up... The plan is to practice enough and go do open mikes where I will hopefully be at a point where I have stopped mangling Don Ross' magnificent music...

Ovations Anonymous

They say confession is good for the soul! Or maybe it was R&B?

Come on Billy, a mando is too small to count? Ok, i'm guilty of sin but yours has a tobacco burst, man, you're so doomed!

The tobacco burst is symbolic of a guitar subject to the flames of hell!

We're all doomed if Dave gets his wish!

This week, my goal is to not buy another mic. Peluso R14. It's
supposedly beating a Royer 121 in the naturalness category on a lot of
shootouts, at a $650 street price.

But...if I get this mic, I'll have an incredible set for recording acoustic
music and an in with both local university music departments filled with
students who'd love to have some inexpensive, quality recordings. That
could help...fund it...right???

I brought another piece of equipment home today that I don't use
anymore since getting the Avalon. My friend asked what it was, and I
said, "More capital."

Say, that's a great way of looking at it!

So how do you like your Fralin pick-up? I'm thinking of hot-roding ye olde strat...

I actually like it quite a bit. It can be really warm if I need to play in a jazz
situation. It's nice and full. Doesn't sound muddy. It's a great pickup for
rock, blues, coldplay type stuff (don't know what to call that style), but it
won't do twang - which is something I asked about when choosing it.

I got it through Acme Guitar Works (or something very similar to that
name), and they sure knew their pickups.

That probably isn't the best response. I'm taking a break from a paper
that's due tonight.

James: What do you use to record(computer/tape) or just live mic?

Garageband Hardcore, eh? I like it, and it does what I'd like it to. I
also have Metric Halo's channelstrip plug-in and basically think of it as
part of the software.

I'm actually certified by digidesign as a protools opperator, but for what I
(plan to) do, there's just no need.

Les Paul Classic (Trying to capture my youthful days...)
Lime Green Stagemaster FR (Sneak it outta the daughter's room...hey, it's COOL!)
'67 Fender Bassmaster head reworked for guitar
Lee Jackson tweaked Stealth 50 head in vintage Marshall cabinet
(2) 2-12 Celestion cabinets
Tweaked Ibanez Tube Screamer
Tweaked Phase 90
Tweaked DanElectro Delay

I toned my setup down a bit so I didn't offend any church folk! But the band's ROCKIN' WITH THE CROSS!!
