I saw on the cover of the new StewMac catalog they have a new aerosol based lacquer finishing system. If anybody has tried their new system, give us a review online. It looks like it might be a good way to go if you only lacquer 1-2 guitars a year.

Cheers!

It's funny you should ask!!!
Two weeks ago I purchased 2 cans for an experiment which turned out to be a disaster.

Both cans turned out to be duds!!
They clogged up with paint as though I were spraying a cheap can of enamel. What a mess. The Black finish bubbled up and I was forced to let dry and scrapped the entire top. I don't know what was wrong with the paint but I will never buy them again. I should have demanded a refunded but my Doctor insists that I avoid certain confrontations that would affect my heart condition.

Buyer beware.

I am not so sure that the sanding sealer is simply the same as nitro with twice the solids - yes there are more solids, but most sanding sealers also have other additives, to make the sanding part easier, ie less clogging - in the case of nitro, its usually stearates - I know thats whats in the sealer I used on a couple guitars a couple years back, it was a high solids from Mohawk, same company that makes Behlens - the stearates actually soften the finish, and in my case I stopped using it as I found it was too soft. Get some Zpoxy for your sealing and pore filling needs. No comparison.

If you read the Understanding Finishes book, cant remember the author off hand - it says to avoid them if you can.
