Hi everyone!

After measuring the weight of the whole guitar, i decided to verify the weight of my bridge, alone, it came down to 21 grams.



Shaped my bridge on the drum sander but made the bird's tail disappear! oooops! Well, turns out that when i realised that it now looks like Hesh's stealthy bridge, i was rather happy!





still got to route the saddle slot but i had to go out for groceries which cut my shop time, dang!



Ok, well, since i ran out of time, decided to check the options i had with the corian nut and saddle blanks that my bud Coe Franklin had sent me last year, 4 different colors, hard to choose don'tcha think ?

Bravo, Sergeio!! Looking good. I like the shape and color of that bridge. I kinda like the light gray saddle best, I think. Just pick the one that goes best with the guitar color, or bridge and FB color.

Thanks Ron, yeah, maybe when i'm done making the wooden pickguard, that the choice will be more eviden.

Started sanding the soundbox this afternoon, will get back at it in the evening, boy, is WRC easy to ding or what, i only smiled at it!

Are you going to use “Corian” for your nut and saddle?

That’s a great idea! That stuff is very durable, easy to work with, easy to repair,
and comes in a wide range of colors. Interesting choice!

I guess you probably already know what it is made of.

An acrylic polymer. Yep, its Plastic!

Thanks Joel, copy away my friend, i did shamelessly copy those from others.

Thanks Robert and Coe , yes, Corian is an interesting choice, i used a nut blank on no 2 but had a bone saddle blank back then, i want to give a try with both the nut and saddle this time and see how it all sounds, mind you, the sound of guitar no 2 was great so i think it should not affect the tone of the instrument too much.

Serge, you look mahhvelous in veneer!

A lone (perhaps) word of caution: I've used Corian successfully as nut material, but not for saddles.
I found that in that thin a strip--3/32"--the face would fracture and crumble when the full pressure of the string passed over it. Also, when the saddle was replaced with bone, the sound was noticably better.

Just something to think about, amigo.

Thanks Steve, observation well taken, do you think it would work if i make my saddle wider or i should just forget about it and use bone exclusively as a saddle?

Well, I hate to throw a wet blanket on your colorful endeavors, but I would go with a bone saddle. I think the Corian would work admirably, though, for the nut.

Serge, I agree with Steve. I've swapped out a corian saddle for a bone one before and you can hear the difference right away.

Why don't you make a corian saddle and try it out. Then make a bone saddle and do the switch yourself. I'm sure you'll hear quite a difference. This is something Mario taught me over on the MIMF several years ago.

I agree! And Serge, with all the love and work you have put into this guitar it would be a shame to shortchange the sound of it ofer a couple of bucks worth of bone. If you don't have any or can't get some for one reason or another PM me and I'll send you a nut and saddle blank.
