I need advice here.

I've built 2 acoustic guitars. I like to experiment. I'm building 2 Weiss. style guitars, and am thinking about putting the sound holes on the upper bout, instead of the traditional location. Any advice on the way this would sound? Does it matter where they are? I like the idea, because you could add a few more frets on the fretboard. Also, I am very lazy, and I wouldn't have to do a rosette.  So, I'm thinking about putting sound holes, the same size, combined, as the sound hole on the plan. Any input here? I also think it would look pretty good, too! Alan.

Check out Rich Mermer's site. He builds some with
soundholes in the upper bouts and uses some
interesting bracing patterns.

The only drawback I see is not being able to use a
Sunrise or similar magnetic soundhole P'up.

Cool. Look forward to seeing some progress pics.

By the way - when I run out of frets I just keep going up with the slide

Thanks, guys. I have Baggs saddle pick-up in a Weiss  I built 3 years ago, and really like it. Good idea on making the two with different soundholes, but I am already doing a sound comparison between koa, and maple/spruce. Maybe I should just make the project after this one "the soundhole experiment". Alan.
