I just saw some excellent videos on youtube of a guitarist using something called a chapman stick. Are they tuned like a regular guitar with the top set of strings in reverse order? Thanks, Robert |

I have heard them off and on for years and always found them fascinating. They have some distinct advantages for some kinds of music as you can install midi interfaces as an option. If I were working as professional jazz player, it would be playing Pat Metheny or Al DiMeola style riffs on a stick...it would be a blast! |

WOW!! So you can bung a load of strings and a couple of pups on a plank and call it a guitar!!! Amazing invention, I really want one now. I'd get one instead of an electric guitar. |

There's actually a sizeable community of "tap-style" builders and enthusiasts. www.tappistry.org has a good forum worth checking out. There's a good Chapman Stick-specific forum over at stickist.org Emmett Chapman (the inventor of the Stick) is a really cool guy. You can tell by talking to him that he's doing what he loves for a living! Some Stick players worth searching the web and youtube for: Bob Culbertson Steve Adelson (he makes it look SO easy) Greg Howard If you like the Stick, check out Warr Guitars over at warrguitars.com I love their combinations of wood and overall style for a tapper. I'm working on my own 12-string tapper currently.... hopefully I'll finish it one day hehe |
