I previously posted about a dilemma with the purfling on my rosette that I had sanded through. I painted in the lines as was suggested and it actually worked pretty well. The close ups still show the errors but with the naked eye its VERY hard to tell anything is awry.

Larry, My instructor taught me this: "Yeah, I still make mistakes...I just quit pointing them out" I think it turned out pretty well Larry. I decided to try and fix mine as well and will try to post a pic. People look at my last guitar and just gush about how beautiful it is. I look at it and al I can see is every little flaw. |

[/QUOTE] Yeah what IS UP with that? So true! I can see how badly the line moves from my shaking hand and the color is not perfect and on and on and on I could go. Now if someone picks up the guitar and says, "Dude, did paint this purfling on or what?" I WILL kill that person. 
If you try those little lines don't forget the magnifying glasses. - for real. |

Larry, it's looking a lot better. If in time it still bothers you, you could always sharpen your Sharpie, put away your caffeine for a while, and paint that outermost white line black. At least that's the only trouble spot I see. Of course, then you'd have to balance that on the other side of the rosette, so just forget I said this.

Larry-- you've done an outstanding job! I can barely see where it was done... and that's how I belive you can tell a good luthier from a great one-- the great ones "leave no tracks." Congratulations from someone who aspires to someday do what you and the others here do. John Creech |

It actually looks pretty darn good! That top and rosette design sure are pretty. |
