The vacuum holder sold by lmii looks like a nice solution for holding the guitar, but I was told the pump has to run continuously while holding the guitar, is the pump unpleasantly loud and noisy? Also, do you have time to catch the guitar in the event of a power failure. |

Build the system that Joe Wood worker has on his site... You don't need to run it continously. |

I agree I just finished building the Joe Woodworker EVS system. Since in has a subresevoir and 2 main resevoirs it doesn't need to run continuously |

Brock, I'm a little lost on the Joewoodworker site, found a lot on veneer clamping but didn't find a holder system of any kind. I assume you meant there was a pump system that works with the lmii holder? If so, which one? |

Yes the joe woodworker site is about the pump systems. I built the EVS system with a Gast pump and it is very nice. You could just use the pump directly, but the EVS system has reservoir tanks to keep it from running continuously. Also, the controller allows the pump to kick on if their is a drop in vac by 4. Very well designed and easy to build. I also use the foot switch which allows you to turn it on and off without dumping the vacuum pressure. A very nice addition to the system. I have the LMI holder and it is very well designed. |

It depends on how airtight your system is. I would say every 10 minutes or so. And when it does it only does it for a few seconds to recharge. |

Marc, it depends on how tight your system/seals are. Mine cycles for about 1 minute about every 10 minutes when I'm on the pod. My clamping drawer is much more often as it's not very tight. |

I have the 5.5 CPM double piston. You could use a cheap refrig pump, but they may not pull enough vacuum |
