Is there a good source for non figured walnut back and side sets? I want to build a batch of experimental guitars and mess around with bracing and construction but do not want to spend $150-$200 for a back and side set. |

I bet that many vendors that have figured walnut also have the straight-grained stuff. I think most don't post it on their sites because it's just not as flashy as curls and burls. Ask 'em! You might also look at straight-grained sapele and African mahogany. All excellent tone wood, but with a lower price. |

Bill Hibdon processed some nice Missouri black walnut backs and sides last fall. Give Andrew a call at the office and he will fill you in on the stock. |
