Hi Terry I've found that my guitars sound much better after a day or two of being strung up for the first time. So, I try to wait at least a couple days to turn them loose. As for the set ups... It seems I can almost always improve the playability of the guitars after they have settled in for 6 months or a year. (It's nice to have your customers nearby for things like this) Long |

I keep mine for about a week.... gives me enough time to play around with the setup if indeed changes a bit and time to take some pics... ![]() |

I seem to settle on 2-3 saddles for each guitar. Since I usually finish my annual guitar in the fall, the dry winter seems to bring a buzz or 2. I make a slightly taller saddle and it eliminates the buzzes. When Spring & Summer arrives, the action seems high and I re-install the original saddle or a third saddle even slightly lower than the original. I see this in spite of the fact that I always store them in humidified cases. I'm sure that the normal settling in period has something to do with this but I also suspect seasonal changes. Bottom line is...I'm glad I have the options of multiple saddles. Has anyone else had similar experiences? If so, maybe it would be a good idea to provide an extra saddle or 2 for your clients. |
