As has been mentioned in a couple of recent posts, our friend and comrade Serge Poirier has left.

I Spoke with Serge last night and some things he commissioned me with was this.....

Be good to each other, be an encouragement, bring laughter, be a friend.

It's really not up to me to give any reasons why Serge has decided to leave, if your really interest you can contact him yourself.

What I really want to do is just say I'll miss you Serge (I told you that already) and want to give others a chance to say the same.

It's kind of crazy how one guy can spend just over one year and have such an impact on a place like this, I guess 7000+ post will do that eh?

Serge was always encouraging, always supportive and always someone who's posts I would love to read. I would love to see a new thread from him with some shop progress, all decked out in his safety gear and mag glasses, or his latest "scrounged up" jig, or the dust fest he and Alain had, or Serge's recent Crazy Ritz for Tony.

You will be missed greatly my friend and never forgotten. I certainly hope you come back one day.

I too will miss you, for I feel that I have come to know you in this forum.I hope that you can find balance in the context of the forum "rules". I have never really felt that I had to even try to tolerate anyone here, especially you Serge. Sometimes families have to work to stay together, but nearly always it is well worth the effort. Take care, brother.

When I was a newer member here - Serge was one guy who went out of his way to make me feel welcome at the OLF and also to encourage me to stick with it, and not get discouraged,
just last week he was still one guy who still went out of his way to make me feel like I was his friend, and encouraged me not to get discouraged, and stick to it!
In December I mentioned to Serge that I loved to poutine, well by my birthday 2 cans of St Hubert poutine sauce arrived in the mail .
What a guy!!!!
I really grew to admire how someone could be so kind on such a consistant basis - and mean it... I cant believe that this has occured!
Serge, I really hope you can find your way back here for the luthierie portion of your life, we need you as part of this community! Please dont be stubborn, your such a big part of this community, not having you here at the OLF is like losing a really good part of my day.
If you absolutely wont consider,,,, I will see you around sharebear.
Your Friend
Charlie

Hopefully we can all let bygones be bygones and may time erase any hurt feelings. I haven't a clue what had transpired but I only hope we can all agree to disagree without getting disagreeable.
I like politics and Religion but this is a place where the only strings we want to attach are to a guitar.
   Hope for the best

Just so you all know, there are no hard feelings on Serge's behalf regarding the OLF, or ANYONE here.

This is something that he has decided is best for him. He is very sad and will miss us all, but he believes he has to be 100% true to where he is at in his journey.

That's all, no hard feelings, just so you all know.

WOW! I just read this thread. I don't know how to express how bad(sad) this makes me feel. I truly hope that you reconsider,Serge. I'm not up to speed on all that's happening or happened, however I understand that you have to be true to yourself. Be yourself. Come back real soon. Clinton

I've spoken with our mate Serge, I know what the issues are. Our moderators are pissed at him for flouting the no religion policy. He can't not do it because it's a big part of what makes Serge, Serge.

I personally have never had a problem with the religious content of this site, not at all, and I don't even beleive in god. I personally think it's all a crock of you know what. I do however beleive in Serge.

The no politics and no religion policies of this forum were intended to avoid conflict, there are other places to do that. But when the implimentation of those policies creates an even bigger conflict, then that's just Bull puckie.

So until our mate Serge returns, I'm gone from this place too. I don't beleive in god, but I do beleive in my mate. It's time to draw a line in the sand.

Been gone for a couple of days and Serge is gone? And we'll all miss him? - Goes without saying. But what could have possibly happened to where Serge thought he had to leave?

I'm saddened - but must most of all angry. Not at an anonymous someone who might have done the deed, but at Serge! How can you devalue your participation on this forum to such a degree that you leave?

All of us here depend on your steady posting to keep the place light and fun. We all looked forward to your response to almost every post. It gave this place a foundation and a stability that you somehow did not know you provided.

Then you leave? I'm sure whatever it was was tough, but all relationships - even this one - can be tough. But hey when they get tough YOU DON'T LEAVE! You stick around and work things out. Then they get tougher and you stick around some more until they get worked out.

I'll always consider Serge a friend that I never met and even though I don't know the details, I think it's crap and inconsiderate to leave.

Don't come back for me. Come back for you, and the forum, and for what it stands for, because you are what this forum is all about.

Come on back Serge! You know my feelings and why I feel I can stay for at least a time...but I must agree in principle with Paul B's sentiment that in this case a policy which was meant for good has bitten us!

I think this has all gotten blown way out of porportion. I read the off topic post and thought Brock was simply asking to respect the rules of engagement. It didnt appear to me that he was upset or p'off.

I love the Bear!!! But in the end, perhaps many are responding too emotionally to this issue. I am in hopes that Serge will reconsider, and realize no one was asking him to deny his beliefs, the request was simply to respect the rules of engagement for the OLF.

I also think Brock and Lance have always exercised good judgement in this area. When people we sick or going through a life challenge, many people offered up prayers, thoughts and best wishes with no one calling foul. That is not quite the same tone of where the off topic misunderstanding began.

Serge if you are monitoring the posts, hope you will reconsider and decide to rejoin the group. If you do not, many people will miss your contribution on many levels, including myself.
