Hey guys, I LOVE cam clamps. They are the most perfect clamping device for this trade in my opinion. The drawback: cost. My local woodcraft sells them for $20 each. OUCH. So I figured there can't really be that much to making them. Boy was I wrong. Hole placement and angles are absolutely critical or it won't work at all. Anyway, I got it figured out and made a batch of 6 out of Lyptus. I'm wondering if anone else would be interested in me making them some. Why do the hard work when I've already banged it out. And I'm willing to sell them for $10 each. Drop me a line if you are interested. I'll have to do a run of a substancial number to make it worth my while. Thanks Paul

Walter, the ones I made before are a little more than 6" but that can be flexible to an extent. Paul

Hi Paul,
I don't have any cam clamps at this time, so if you are making just 6" I will buy some. I should have some 8"...right??
I can order 8" from stewmac if you are not offering this size. No problem.
So, I would like 8 of your 6" clamps.
Thanks very much for offering these to us.
You're a heck of a guy for doing this.
Kind regards, WalterK

How much are the Brazilian Rosewood Clamps???
Right!!!!!!!!!WalterK38402.7645949074

Walter, the 6" ones are a good starting point. But 8" is good too. I'll be doing both in this run. So you can take your pick.
Sorry, the wood store was out of brizilian so I had to settle for ash. Interesting story: I was debating between beech and maple for these. Beech is what most bench tops are made of. So we went to the reference book and looked up beech vs maple for "strength" (static breakage, dynamic breakage and hardness). Beech is very hard but the breakage properties are quite low. Maple is pretty good but we found ash and hickory to me much higher in all around strength than both maple and beech. So ash it was.

Paul, Good choice...I've heard Ash is an excellent all around wood.
Since you are going to make 8" clamps, then I would like at least 4 of this size in addition to the 8 in 6" as well.
Thanks again Paul. 12 total.
Oh!! Say I just left your website and listened to music samples of your guitars...I was really impressed with the variation of sound. Very well balanced.
Having played guitar for over 43 yrs...I consider myself a good listener of fine instruments. I know a good sound when I hear one.
You're doing something right!!! Keep it up.
Regards, Walter

Paul,

I would love to get 4 @ 6" and 4 @ 8".

In addition, could I get 2 @ 8" with 30" metal bar. I want to use them as a body clamps. I was going to make my own but since you are already doing it...

Hey Guys, sorry I've been out all weekend and haven't had a chance to check in.
Michael, the first batch I'm finishing up are all 8" throat. Do you want the 8" or 6"? I'm measuring the very end of the clamp to the near edge of the bar. That's the same way the ones i've purchased are measured.
So Let me know what you want. Paul
