Here is another guitar I am building.

It started out as my new design for a small body but as I am building too many steel strings as it is I decided to turn it around and make a nylon string guitar. Its not a commission and I have not decided yet if I'm going to sell it or not, for now I'll be taking my time and will post some pics here as I do some more work on it.

So here are the specs:

Drop Shoulder Cutaway Model SM-CN

Macassar Ebony back and sides

Sinkerwood top

Laminated Cedar Neck 13 fret

Flamed Eucalyptus Bindings

Spalted Maple Rosette

Body Length 19"

Lower Bout 15"

Upper Bout 10.5"

Waist 8 3/4"

650mm Scale

Very nice Peter! The sinker top and rosette look killer! Did you get that macassar from the Zootman? If so, I might have the sister set that I am building with currently.

I really like your design and material choices on this guitar, Peter.   I've
been thinking about using Eucalyptus bindings but haven't had a chance
yet. I can't wait to see how it works with the Mac Ebony.

Could you tell me about your tail block? Is the head block made out of
the same stuff?

It looks very nice, I really like the macassar.

I must ask: What material is the mat under your instrument? There have been rumours of padding materials that emit substances that will stick to whatever is rested on them and interfere with subsequent finishing...

I have never seen a drop shoulder cutaway. Do you have any picts of a
finished one with that design. Very nice mac

It's shaping up nicely, Peter. It's certainly "non-traditional" for a nylon-string, but it's going to look mighty cool whatever kind of strings it wears! I see you're using a standard "classical" scale. Are you planning a classical or steel-string type neck?

Arnt, I have used that pad for many guitars and never had a problem... Not sure what material it is, is some shelf covering from Home Depot.

Same stuff I bought a couple of years back... last set though.

But I think Allied carries it.
