It seems like ages since I had anything worth posting. This weekend I started on the finish of my second guitar. Here is a pic of the back, just after applying the epoxy pore-filler.




And here is a pic of the rosette. I'm really happy about the way this is turning out.

I discovered a way to make a rosette like that look a bit better (IMO). Notice how on the upper bout side there is little if any black spalt lines. Prior to routing ou the ring for inlaying, simply break the piece of spalt in areas where there is no black - then rub a little ebony dust between the two pieces, and CA them back together. D as many breaks as needed to even up the look for serious spalting - I did this to a piece last week and you would never know that it had been done - Faux spalting I call it !!!

This is my first 'OLF sponsor' guitar. All of the materials were purchased from various sponsors last year. The top is Lutz spruce from Shane, the back and sides are EIR from Steve at Colonial Tonewoods, the binding (curly maple), rosette (spalted maple) and purfling (mahog-a-lam) from the Zootman. The neck, fingerboard and bridge came from Ed Dicks at AC Woods.
