{searches in the couch for extra change] Where can I come up with a spare $3,750,000.00 (USD?) without the wife killing me and dumping the left over bits into the Potomac River?

Thanks for the tip Arnt. I've been looking for one of these for a long time, and although I knew they had this, I never expected them to part with it. I just bought it.

Does anyone know where the Museum is located in SCruz? I live in SCruz and would love to see those guitars.

Heck, I couldn't afford the listing fee. If it sells (hypothetically), the listing fee for E-bay would be over $100,000!

Don. You beat me to it. I was gonna buy it and flip it for a quick profit. But there's still the Stella for only $60K. Exactly almost kinda like the one Leadbelly played.

Chris,

Their web site says "virtual museum" so you'll have to look for it in cyberspace. let us know what you find!

How much Brazillian was that Don?

Now I love guitars as much as the next nut but $4 million!?! Never.

If no one bids, it isn't worth $4mill. I'm not sure they are serious about selling. They may just be interrested in raising the awareness of their collection. Usually these sorts of things are handled by brokers who know who the likely collectors are and how much they are willing to pay. Or, they go through Christies or Southaby's If it does sell, then $4 mill is a good chunk of change and would probably help their museum out quite a bit.

Yeah, and Howard, there's that nice little Martin Uke too for $50K. That would take less effort to flip, 'cause it's smaller....

Not to mention the sweet Fleta for only 80K. Sure, you can pick Fleta's up at Brune's, Trilogy, etc., for 35K or so, but why would you do that when you can get one for 80K?

FWIW, I emailed the seller, and yes there is a 'virtual museum'....themomi.org. Their website says a 'physical location' is planned for 2002, but I don't find anything listed anywhere in SCruz. There is however a phone listing for the seller in the SCruz phone book. Having lived in this town now for near 30 years this kind of thing doesn't surprise me. SCruz has long been know for it's somewhat excentric residents.

I scrolled to the bottom of the page before I went to the top, and was gasping at the $600K for the Loar mandolin! You know, we love guitars, we build, want to build or repair guitars (Sam even DREAMS about guitars!), but no guitar is worth over 3.7 million dollars! I'm not sure why, but that price feels insulting.
