that was so cool man. its so inspiring to hear someone say that they are living their destiny. and with all the time ive spent dreaming of guitars, ive neglected to actually play my guitar. the gentleman who was playing larivees guitars inspired me to get back to that as well.

Thanks for the link-very interesting stuff.
I liked the 'wall of experiments' with all the soundboard bracing variations....

That was pretty cool. I don't know about that young show off at the end. I
think he has wayyyyyy too much free time on his hands.

Hey guys .. here is that pic of the wall .. note that there really arent any experiments, they are jsut the different shapes he builds. Note that with the expception of the acoustic bass, the pattern is always the same ... and I would guess that except for the 12 string, so are the sizes.

Wow, Jean sure seems like he's still a hippy at heart. I say that will all respect. I love the way he presented "his" way of doing things.

Lots of guitars eh?
Hey guys .. here is that pic of the wall ..
Thanks, Tony.

Two other things struck me (I should watch the video again)-
Did he say in the video that he doesn't arch his tops at all? The 1991 GAL article has a paragraph where he explains his brace shaping to get an arched lower bout.
Also, it looked like a worker was marking the notches for the braces into the sides with a pencil- seems really low-tech (nice to see something that isn't done with a router jig or CNC)!

Thanks, Irwin! It's hard to not like him. Thinks he's making good guitars, but doesn't boast.

John...He did say he's trying to avoid arching, but I think he was talking about "bellying," rather than not building in an arch.

Thanks, Carlton.
That makes sense. There were a (very) few unusual translations from French to English.
He's a very engaging and impressive guy.

I guess we all are in the persuit of the "perfect guitar" ??

I dont think I have built that one yet, but maybe one day I can say I have found the secret for the "perfect guitar with the perfect sound".

Thanks again for the link !

Jean L, like Laskin, arches the upper bout in front of the X, the back end of the guitar is built flat. It will pull up slightly under tension.

Thanks, Tony. I got that exactly backwards in my comment.
