One of my clients were kind enough to pull this pre-1904 Martin Parlor guitar off of the wall of thier pre-1918 home and let me examine it and draw up plans on it. My question is; does anyone have any idea what it might be worth or where I might look to find out what it may be worth?

Brian,

You might try over at the unoffical Martin guitar forum. UMGF

They might have some answers for you.

Cool looking little parlor. I would love to try and restore one like that. Or, at least build one!

Okay Brian, I want to build this guitar. Put me on the list of plan mongers. Thanks for sharing the pics. I want a tracing at least. I find posterboard from the dimestore or old wrapping paper are two easily available large papers for tracing onto pretty nice.

The posterboard allows a stiff copy to go to the copy place repeatedly for copies, where the wrapping paper gives a quick way to share just a quick tracing. Any way you do it, please count me in. This is a nice little instrument, unfortunate it's fate.

Brian,

Contact this guy he is a bit of a Guru for vintage Martin's

Vintage Martin Collector

I've got three pre-war Martins, and I have them insured collectively for about $50k. One is very rare which distorts the values a bit. The smaller and nylon/gut strung instuments tend not to be so valuable.

You might drop a line to George Gruhn down in Nashville. He's pretty well know for dealing in vintage instruments and I think I read somewhere that he can give you a quote via email.

It's worth a shot.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't responded but I locked myself out of the OLF and couldn't find my key . I am working on some plans and can go back to take more measurements and will probably need to do so. I will post a notice when I get them drawn up. I do have more info...the guitar was given as a gift in 1909. Thanks for all of the help and I will keep you posted!
