Any more development on this event? My spring schedule is filling up fast and I'd like to write this one in. Have we volunteered anyone to coordinate it?

We have not but I think Rick Davis and Cat Fox (that's such a cool name) was going to host it at his shop in Seattle so maybe he will chime in.

I think he was waiting to hear back with some potential dates. Also I seem to recall that he was thinking about April or May some time.

Any weekend in May would work for me.

Here was the original post by our buddy Charlie Ward Westcoast OLF Get-Together

I will be on vacation trailering from Los Angeles up to Port Angeles, Washington the last couple of weeks in May. If the date falls right maybe I can make it too.

I just checked our schedule and the weekend of May 18-19-20 looks
good, if you're still interested in meeting here. The shop is in the Fremont
district, north of the Seattle city center. Let us know if you need local
transportation.

We'll do some building/repair demos/workshops, arrange a tour of
Gurian Instruments (probably on Friday), and have other builders come by
to talk and demo on Saturday and Sunday. Music and libations Saturday
night.

We can't offer housing but there are several decent motels nearby. I will
talk with them about a group rate if there appear to be enough people.
Lots of restaurants! Dusty Strings is a few blocks away and the Fremont
troll is waiting under the bridge to gobble up any latecomers or banjo
players.

Post here so I can get a head count!

I could probably come for Sat morning till sunday when ever it's done. Will have to check with the boss first, but that would be a very cool get together

50/50 chance I'll be in Oregon then, if so I'll be there, sounds like fun.

Sorry guys for not getting into this discussion sooner, I quite honestly have been a little shook up of late about Serge and his departure, and I havent been around the OLF as much -
May sounds fantastic, very nice time of year here on the coast
and Many Many thanks to Rick and Cat for thier gracious offering of space and time to host the event!
I have spoken privbately to John Abercrombie about the get-together as well....
If there are expenses I suppose the people attending could colectively chip in, I dont have very much experience with organizing get-togethers and dont have much idea what they would be or how to estimate them but perhaps someone could coordinate that.
Cheers

Since Charlie mentioned me, I should add that I won't be able to make this get-together.
Perhaps the next one!
Thanks to everybody organizing this.

I'm going to have to wait until we're a little closer to the date to know if I can make it. I'm kind of at the mercy of our suppliers and I go when they want me to.

If I'm not out getting wood I'll be there.

Hey Charlie, bumps are certainly OK here.

And I haven't forgotten about that phone call

Thanks for the bump Charlie. I hope to make it for the whole thing, but at least for a day.

Yes, May 18, 19, and 20 are set and confirmed. I'll get to work on motels
in the area.

I have arranged a tour of Gurian's facility so we can all see where those
cool bridge pins, purflings, bindings, and inlays come from -- all the
newest in CNC, traditional mills, laser technology, etc. Also, plenty of
wood to drool over (and take home).

Over the weekend, Cat Fox and I will do some presentations on repair,
setup, and building topics. Other builders will stop by with presentations
and their latest. Brent McElroy is on board for one day; others to follow.

Music and refreshments Saturday night. Bring your own instruments for
display and jam sessions!

Please let me know, either by private message or email to
rick@vtguitars.com if you are planning on attending. I need to get a head
count and know about any special needs for transportation etc.

Cheers, and see you next month!

Rick

Wow this is great Rick!!

Thanks to you and Cat (and we haven't even had the event yet) for setting this up.

It will be totally cool coming down there to meet you as well as other OLFer's.

I'll bring an instrument, but won't be playing as like Hesh, I know smoke on the water, a few chords (and the truth )

Cool I'll email with a confirmation though.
