Has anybody used one of these tools? For years I have used a Dremel to grind off every other barb on each side of the fret tang to control the amount of pressure the fret applies to the fret slot. It is a bit tedious, but it does the job. The frets are solidly seated and there is no back warping of the fingerboard surface. Well, I did experience some back bowing from installing unmodified frets in an ebony board for a steel string. I am committed to using a single truss rod, so I need to control the amount of back bowing the frets will exert. The Fret Barber looks like an easy way to achieve this. |
