Well guys, I finally got this one finished and ready to give to my son for his birthday. This guitar took a long time because it's my first built completely from scratch. I just strung her up so I can't comment much on the tone yet but it hasn't flew apart yet so that's a good thing! ![]() ![]() Back & Sides - EI rosewood from LMI at ASIA 05' Top - Carpathian spruce from Zootman! bindings - bloodwood from Zootman also. rosette - bubinga from R.C. tonewoods ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Did you do the finish? Is it laquer? It shines so much you are visible snapping the pick like it were a mirror. That is sweet, I am working on my first OM too. |

A great looking instrument Dave. Did you use the OLF OM body shape or another set of plans? |

Thanks a lot guys! I really appreciate your comments. Jon - Yeah I did the finish. It's lacquer and it did come out ok but I need to get a better buffer soon. Hesh, Thank you, Yeah this one was a battle too.I made a lot of bonehead mistakes.I still have a few things to fix. It's McFaddens nitro. |

Another first that bulges the eyes. There is a lot of talent out there, and it is certainly displayed in this guitar. What a beauty. You should be very proud. I'm sure your son will be. |

Very nice, clean work. I particularly like the bridge (and the rosette). You guys keep 'setting the bar' higher and higher! I think I'll go buy a soft-focus lens so I can take some pics of my efforts! ![]() Cheers John |

Really well done Dave. If I'd been asked, I'd have advised against using a large rosette on this body, but I'd have been wrong--you've made it work nicely. As others have said, great work on the finish! It passes the challenging "read the photographer" test with ease. ![]() |

Great work Dave, Your son is one lucky lad. IMO a hand made guitar from your own father must rank as the prince of gifts. Be sure to post pics at hand over. Just one gripe though Dave, please don't go mak'in me so nervous by placing such I fine display of craftsmanship sooo close to the waters edge while your sitting back there lulling about in the sunshine admiring yourself in the mirror ![]() Cheers Kim |

Dave, well done, well done. Must be tough to top the gift of giving one of your own a very finely crafted guitar. Congratulations! Kim -- I was kinda thinking the same thing -- though I was looking in the picture for signs of gators. I know Florida gators are woosie in comparison to the ones you've got down under - but it would still hurt! ![]() |

Very cool! My son is only four but I'm still getting him down in the shop early. We've been making wooden model airplanes. Enough about me already! Great work my friend and a wonderful sentiment as well. |
