Hey all. I'm building 2 Weiss styles, and they're just about neck and neck. One's all koa, the other is spruce/maple. When I tap the koa one, it sounds great. The bridge block isn't installed yet, all other braces are. The spruce top has the bridge block in, and the tap is kind of dead. I made the bridge block 1/4", as per plan, and glued it up to the x-brace. Now, I'm thinking about shaving it down to an 1/8" and cutting it back from the x, (aaaarrgghh!). Any thoughts?

Also, in the future, I was going to make an 1/8" thick triangle, which would be held away from the x, which would become the bridge block too, like in the Sloane book on st. string git const. Thanks in advance for any advice. Alan

Thanks guys. I shaved the block/plate, whatever you call it, ( the piece under the top and bridge) to an 1/8".  Then I glued the top on the sides yesterday. We'll see/hear what happens.

Here's a pic of the koa top, which I don't think is readable. I can't figure out that darn photobucket! Aaarrgghh! If it does come through, I think I did a nice job of changing the original Weiss. bracing, stronger, yet lighter. Any advice on photo-b.?Alan.

The plans for the Weiss. style one told me to do that, but I'm finding out they were under-braced, amongst other things. So, I'm going to experiment with my own ideas, and eventually come up with something really good. Alan.
