Howdy y'all, As previously mentioned, I'm new both here and to guitar design/construction. I certainly don't want to ask a dumb question but... I see links up at the top for wood species along with many selections. However, all of them offer "sides" and "Backs". Here's my dumb question. Am I missing some info about the "fronts"? I'm quite familiar with wood species having cut my teeth on the scrollsaw. And I certainly am thankful that you are cutting ME a break on my novice approach and "green" involvement. Thanks you guys. Jim - Fronts are "tops". Usually a softwood species - spruce, cedar, redwood, occasional other, although all koa or all mahogany guitars are not uncommon. Jim |

There's also bunya, an Australian wood, like koa used in backs, sides and tops/fronts. Cool looking stuff! Maybe the Ozzies can pipe up about how it sounds as I have never heard any! |
