I am thinking of building a shed behind the house for storing garden stuff. (ie lawn mower, leaf blower, garden tools, etc.) I am hoping this will open the garage up a little. Here are a few considerations....

1) I live in a residential area with the houses fairly close together so what I build must look decent. Lot size is 100' wide x 150' deep.
2) Size??? I know whatever size I build will probably be too small...need input here. Too big may overwhelm the back yard but too small may fill up quickly.
3) Cost is always a factor but I am more concerned about building something that is quality and will last.
4) Foundation type? I am confortable pouring a concrete slab but I know many build on a wood frame. Why is this?

Pictures are great if you have any.

Thanks for the input!

We were able to hide a tin garden shed kit behind the garage for the same purpose. I used light joists and ply for the floor, as I didn't want the permanence, effort or expense of concrete. It's 10 x 12 ft. And of course, it's now too small.

Do keep in mind that there may be code issues if you go over a certain area, so check with your city building dept.

Let us know what you build, and post pics, as we're assuming this project is to make for more lutherie space, right?

Thanks for the info Pat. I am sure that whatever size I build it will seem too small! I am still kicking around a bunch of idea but nothing for certain yet.
