I just thought I'd post a couple quick pics here of my first attempt at bending. Doug O. was nice enough to cut me some mahogany at various thickness'  to let me practice on. This is technically the second piece, the first one I didn't try to follow my pattern, I just wanted to get a feel for it... there are a couple ripples/kinks on that one. This piece is 27" x 3.5" x .085" and turned out better than expected. He gave me some longer pieces as well that I will be able to  try and complete the entire side.

WAY TO GO!!!!!! Blooming tricky, getting those tight curves. Nonetheless incredibly enjoyable.

I have a bodged set at home...I am wondering whether I could straighten out the waist and use the sides for a teadrop zouk or something...

Thanks guys, this was just the first of several practice runs I will be doing before I try to bend that Eucalyptus from Bob. It's an interesting process that was really fun to try. Thanks for all the earlier tips on this subject as well guys!

Sam, you wouldn't be the first person to unbend a set and take another go at them. Go for it.

Isn't it great when you have bend your 1st side.
I was very afraid of this major hurdle when I started.
