Hi folks, just curious as to who will be attending this year? Based on discussions a couple months ago, it doesn't appear like the OLF will be making a big showing this time around.

Some time ago we talked about organizing a golf outing on the Thursday, any takers?

I see this post is less popular than the tax software that was being flogged here a couple weeks ago and far less exciting as another "I've got Zoot" post

Anthony, I was wondering where everyone is myself. Regretfully, I won't be making it to ASIA this time.

ASIA is the only one I go to as well.
Too far off for me and too expensive this year to get there by plane including shipping for me personally. East coast was way easier for me, but I respect trying to bring everyone together in the middle.
Maybe the next one.
I do have a show piece to show off hopefully here in the next day or two. Just needs that touch up and engraving!

Anthony...all things considered I'd rather be at ASIA. I'm not sure what they were thinking when they scheduled this meeting over Memorial Day weekend! That alone will keep a lot of U.S. folks home with family.

This is one of very few meetings within driving distance of central Kansas so I will be there.

Not this time for me either I'm sad to say. It's not at the right time and too far to drive so I'll have to miss this one. Maybe we can have the next one in the southeast?? Maybe Tampa,or Orlando would be good!

I'm still on the fence. There are alot of moving pieces for me right now, but I really want to go.

No me, worst weekend imaginable for me. Just like JJ, family stuff all weekend.

I'm going. Memorial Day weekend isn't the best but it is the best they could do. Finding good facilities is a difficult task and I don't envy them the job of setting this all up. Hopefully, nest time it will be closer to me on the east coast but that does't really matter too much because I fly in anyway.

The dates are perfect for me. I'll have two sales tables at ASIA and will exhibit the weekend before at a custom knife show in the same city....Springfield. After ASIA will travel to Ohio for a family visit then down to Atlanta for a large custom knife show then back to Ohio for a high school graduation then on to D.C. for a few days at the Smithsonian with my grandson. Life's good...

I'm very sad about it, but I have to miss it, too. It's a time/money issue with me this time. I was even going to get a ride in Mike Franks' airplane, and I am really bummed to miss that, and I'll miss seeing everyone and playing at night...I better stop now, I'm getting upset. <G>

So far we've got:
1) Nelson Palen
2) Evan Gluck
3) Dave Rickard
4) Matt Jacobs (maybe)
5) Mike Mahar
6) Bob Long
7) Larry Davis
8) Anthony Zlahtic

Compared to ASIA 2005, a pretty poor showing. It's a pity that the symposium conflicts with Memorial Day weekend and folks family obligations. Being a Canadian (or as JJ calls us all "Hockey Players") I didn't appreciate the significance of this weekend for Americans.

What worries me is that the bi-annual symposium is probably the single largest money raiser for ASIA. I just hope the indications here as to attendance is not a barometer of the likely turn out.

Sounds very cool,Anthony. It will be good to see you again, we hung out for a bit at the airport with Cat Fox last time if I am correct. It will be nice to meet Nelson as i have worked on a couple of his guitars. Looking foward to an OLF get together.
