I've gone as low as .065, and it worked great. Normally my backs are around .070-.090 depending on stiffness and weight. |

I usually don't allow a back or side to stay over .085". Of late my little guitars are around .070" on the back and sides. |

I'm using about .07-.075 on backs & sides, and about .065 on cutaways. These are for 000 and smaller guitars. For larger SJ's, I'll go to .080 on backs. |

I stay at 0.095" or a little below for Mahogany and Walnut. Anything dense like the Rosewoods go to about 0.080" to 0.085". I could go thinner but find that once I put the back bracing on - these thicknesses work really well for me. If you go to thin with the hardwoods, they loose that "ping" sound. I try to go as thin as possible and still retain the sound I am looking for. However, I would rather go thinner than be on the too thick side. Peace Out, Simon |

Hold them up to the light, if you can read a newspaper through it, you might be to thin! anything less and they are probably ok I take mine down to .070-.080 depending upon the wood Mike |
