Great idea Todd. I will probably build one as well. What is that template on the back brace?? Can we get a closeup? Looks like it might be a thickness gauge for the end of the braces?

Great ideas you guys!!! little stress quenchers/work conducive-fiers like these make the workshop a much more uptempo place
Mabye I should pitch my contest idea in here - I tried to pitch a monthly "post your tips" contest in that thread - but was completely ignored - again.
(except for Hesh, and his obligatory kind remarks)
Idea was just a small prize like a OLF mug or teeshirt or something donated, for a regular monthly
[post your "tips jigs or whatever" contest]
to increase the freindly competition factor and comraderie(-2sp?) around here...

It sounded like a good idea to me too, but I guess I didn't say anything cause I'm too new at this to think most of my ideas haven't been tried many times before.  But, it ain't about winning, its about good tips and having fun doing it.

Here's a quick and dirty lining maker.

Construction time around 5 minutes.

Screw a lump of 1.5" x 1.5" scrap to your bandsaw guide.



Draw a line the width you'd like your kerfs.



Set the bandsaw so that the back and forward blade guides rest on the wood. Adjust it to set the kerf depth.



Move the lining so that the kerf aligns with the pencils mark.



Voila.

Here's my quick and easy fixture for holding a scarf jointed neck while rout-planing the face on a router table.
