I used the "Hesh" Iron today for the first time. I started out on 3 which read 375 deg. on my farenheight surface thermometer. I got a little impatient so I turned it up all the way to 4. I didn't check out the temp but it worked great on an ebony bridge...that puppy was off in about 5 minutes. If it had been rosewood I guess I would have been more concerned and re-checked the temp. This little device is cool. It works great. I didn't need to cover or protect any thing. Good item. Can't beat the price from Tower hobby ($9.95). Thanks Hesh.

Anything used in guitar making that is less than 10.00 is a bargain.  Even a bigger bargain when it actually works!

Oh No! Not another learning experience!

I didn't find it any cheaper than the place Hesh recommended it from. Tower hobby. Just $9.95 ( or it was last week). I looked around...Hesh found the best buy.

not quite the best buy ---- my old edge banding iron has been going strong for about 9 or 10 years now and only cost me $1 or so, albeit in a junk shop!

I agree Michael, but now a days...at $2.89 a gallon for gas it would cost me more than that to go to local fair in Bradenton to look for one. The best part is that worked...anything that works even once for $9.95 is a gift.

These things do look interesting, I'd like to try oine out. but does someone have a bit more information- I went to the Tower Hobbies website, and couldn't find anything that would come up under a search for "Monokote iron", but looking around I did find what I think you're talking about here. It was 10.99, which makes me wonder if I had the right thing. This was part number LXJD40 which you can plug right into the search function there.
So, if someone can tell us the right part number that would really be cool!
