I was able to continue making progress this weekend. It was nice having
time to just relax and be one with the wood.
Here's a look at the closed box....

and from the back....

...and lastly,
I was able to get my end wedge installed and scraped down flush.

I chose some curly claro walnut that I had leftover cutoffs from #2 with
b/w/b purflings.
This theme will continue with the bindings and top purflings.

Chris - I like the non-dread shape and it is beautiful clean work.  I hope you keep the pics coming!  They're making me want to plan #2.....

Chris, that really looks like it is coming along great.  I like the shape too.  What is that?  (Ignorant in Charlotte??)  Shape that is.  Beautiful wood.

Thanks, the shape is Taylor's Grand Auditorium.
Very similar to a dread in specs but with a tighter waist (9.75").

Thanks Steve,

I may have found me an old wood-worker who is somewhat nearby to spray
nitro for me.

#2 was colortone brushing varnish on back & sides with shellac on the top
but overall I wasn't too overly pleased with the results doing it by brush.

You are turning out some high quality work. The pics are nice...that's good stuff. Looking forward to seeing more.   Nice looking label, too.

Lookin' good Chris. I think the dark bindings will look cool with the medium tones of the body. Having that "V" shaped figure in both and top and back is pretty nifty, too.
