Making a Fleishman/Williams Binding jig

I'm getting ready to fabricate a Fleishman/Williams jig. I have some 1/2" (actually 15/32") Baltic Birch that is very accessible. I also have some 3/4" oak or maple plywood AB stock that is buried and would take a little work to get to. My question for those that have built is do I bite the bullet and dig out the 3/4" or can I use the 1/2" Baltic? I only want to build this once so any help would be appreciated.


AlsodDoes anyone have plans for the jig they're willing to share, I'm trying to do this without spending much so I rather design build before spending money on plans, it looks pretty straight forward, but plans would be great.

Im just starting out on the FW jig..
I started a thread asking if someone had used plans to sell, and someone was kind enough to send me the plans for free as they were finished with them! Thanks Hesh!
I can do the same for you when Im done with them, or mabye someone else with idle plans will chime in...
Im not gonna screw around with changing dimensions too much personally - I just did that on a thickness sander I built, and eventually ended up re-doing the parts over again with the proper size baltic birch they suggested in the first place
Luckily the other modifications I made to the thing worked out - Im not fond of building something twice!
Anyhow good to see you here at the OLF psl53 !!!

Peter, just go to Don Williams site he gives detailed instruction on building one of his fine jigs.

If you want to use a lam trimmer with it's own bearing guide so you can use a Downcut bit the go to DAve whites site where he details his modification for mounting the trimmer on another bearing.
