Not many of you will remember this fine fellow. He stopped by today after a run halfway across the state on business. I don't remember who invited him to the party at Ron Wisdom's in Beebe, Arkansas, but he managed to get a foot in the door.

We had a great time this afternoon looking over his Grand Auditorium Indian Rosewood and Bearclaw Sitka, #8 for him. Oh, yeah, this is Joe McKay of Little Rock. www.mckayguitars.com

Joe sent this one out for Addam Stark to do his magic with Nitro. Yep, flawless. The finish really helped make Joe's work stand up and talk to you. The Cocobolo bridge was hand made, and it had natural bone accouterments. The fretboard and overlay, yes, coco too.

Now for the pics:

Joe and I found him a nice set of bubinga for a backset he had, then ran them through the General to about .090. Kind of funny seeing a lawyer in a dusty shop dressed for the office wearing his dustmask and catching bubinga off the sander...... We had a real nice time.

The guitar is a gift to one of his student/friends who is graduating from high school I think Joe said. Wow, no one ever gave me a present like that when I was a kid. Joe, you rule dude. Nice Guitar, and you sounded good playing it. Thanks for coming by, Bruce

I remember Joe. I was the one who invited him to Ron's place (after checking with Ron of course).

Great looking work there!

That's Joe on the right chatting with Cecil at Ron's House. ArkOLF2 Gathering.

Here is a link to the thread on that gathering which was a fine luthiertime in Beebe. That BBQ lunch provided by Ron and his wife lingers in my memory.

Congratulations Joe on completing such a fine instrument. And my compliments to your finisher Mr. Addam Stark out in Santa Cruz, California.

I remember him. He's also, a former Army officer, and a good guy. Anyway Bruce, if you talk to him tell him I said it looks great.

I shall Matt. I sent him a link to this thread, maybe he'll pop in?

Oh, by the way, he paid everyone who was at OLD Man's a nice compliment, remarking how friendly and talented everyone was to him. Plus the great BBQ, he was blown away by the OLFers who've caught something, a love of luthing and luthers.

Yup, I have his card. The guitar looks great, but Joe doesn't look like a luthier. I think he just plays one on weekends. Nice to see the pics again Bruce, that was a swell time for me.

Ron
